Tips ‘N’ Tricks – SSMS – Re-arranging the Column Sequence in the Results Pane
Sometimes after running a query, we might want to change the sequence of one or two columns in the results pane for some easy understanding or for copying the data to some other sources like excel etc. You can change/re-arrange the sequence of columns in results pane in SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) after the query is executed using the following simple steps.
Let’s say you run a query in SSMS and you get the results in the results pane as shown in the below screenshot.
In the results pane, let us say you want to move the Title column after LastName and before EmailAddress. To do this, hold the Title column and drag it before EmailAddress till you see a red color vertical line between LastName and EmailAddress and once you see the red line, leave your mouse/column as shown below.
Once the column is moved, the results pane changes as shown below (note that you have neither made any changes to the T-SQL query nor you have re-executed the query).
